Every year the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts its annual International Roadcheck. It&#8217;s aim is to improve the safety of North American roads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, It was formed to improve commercial motor vehicle uniformity throughout North America. They do this by providing guidance and education to industry officials, policymakers, and enforcement bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, the FMCSA, CCMTA, Transport Canada, and SICT are a few of the agencies that make up the CVSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Agency Abbreviations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>(United States) FMCSA &#8211; Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration<\/li><li>(Canada) CCMTA &#8211; Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators<\/li><li>(Mexico) SICT &#8211; Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2022 CVSA International Roadcheck Coming May 17-19th<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every year the CVSA conducts its annual International Roadcheck. This is a 72-hour inspection blitz that takes place across North America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During stops, inspectors check common points of violation according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cvsa.org\/inspections\/all-inspection-levels\/\"><strong>North American Standard Inspection<\/strong><\/a> criteria. This year, the 2022 International Roadcheck is focusing on wheel ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the CVSA site, &#8220;Wheel end components support the heavy loads carried by commercial motor vehicles, maintain stability and control, and are critical for braking.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want every vehicle on our roadways to be in proper working order for the safety of the driver operating that vehicle and everyone traveling on our roadways,\u201d says CVSA President <strong>Capt.<\/strong> <strong>John Broers<\/strong>, South Dakota Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, why the focus on wheel ends? According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the top 20 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftsgps.com\/resource-center\/avoiding-the-most-common-safety-violations-contractors-are-cited-for\/\"><strong>violations<\/strong><\/a> for the fiscal year 2022 contain numerous wheel-end component infractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, vehicles that pass Level I or Level V Inspection will receive a special CVSA decal that allows them to forgo standard inspections for the next three months. Clearly, fleets have a lot to gain by passing inspections the first time. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How You Can Prepare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the best thing you can do to prepare for the International Roadcheck is to ready your drivers and maintenance team. You can start your preparations by scheduling maintenance checks ahead of the inspection blitz. Lastly, ensure all of your team has access to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftsgps.com\/solutions\/digital-dvir\/\">DVIR<\/a><\/strong> software, like Field Warrior. This will help ensure your fleet is always up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, you can&#8217;t control when or where your drivers will get checked.
